Seize The Awkward is a campaign aimed at raising awareness for teens and young adults about mental health. It encourages them to make the initial move, to reach out to friends. Having conversations early on about how their friend is feeling could stop something much worse from happening later on.
The campaign is now three years in and was created through a partnership between advertising agency Droga5, the Jed Foundation (JED), the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and the Ad Council.
This year Greenhouse director Laura-Jayne Hodkins created an illustration for Instagram encouraging teens to reach out to each other.
With coronavirus lockdown affecting everyone's everyday life and routines, it's important to send that text reaching out to friends. Just because we're physically distant, doesn't mean we need to be socially distant.
